Goals and Philosophy

The Parkview Baptist School of Music is an entity of Parkview Baptist School and serves students in our community by providing excellent private training in the musical arts. We are dedicated to creating an atmosphere where students can develop musical skills, grow spiritually, and use their talents to glorify God.

Enrollment

Lessons are 30 minutes offered on a weekly basis for students in kindergarten through adults. Extended lesson times are available for advanced students and tuition is adjusted accordingly. Enrollment is open to PBS students, homeschoolers, students attending other area schools, and adults.

Tuition

School of Music tuition covers all lessons, administrative expenses, salaries, and recital expenses.
A $50 registration fee per year is required for all who wish to enroll.
Tuition for private study is $950 per school year. This may be paid in full at the beginning of the year or in ten payments of $95 due by the 10th of each month from August through May. There is a slight discount for families and/or individuals taking lessons for more than one instrument. Contact director for details.
Lesson books and materials are not covered by tuition. Your instructor will give you a list of any literature required for each semester.

How To Pay

PBS students will be billed electronically through their school FACTS accounts.

All other students will be sent a link to create a FACTS account through which payments will be debited monthly from your checking account.
Tuition may also be paid in full at the beginning of the school year through Candy Cope in the Business Office (white house).

End of the Year Recital

It is important for students to observe other students play/sing. There is also great value in students performing in public. Therefore, each student will be expected to attend and play/sing at the end of the semester recital and should plan to remain for the entire time. Adult students are not required to perform on recitals but are always welcome to do so.

Policies

Instrument
A student should practice on an instrument that facilitates progress. Stringed instruments, like guitars and violins, should be fitted to the individual and may need upgrading as the child grows. Piano students may begin on a keyboard for one year only. After that time, having an acoustic piano is imperative, or the student’s technique may suffer, and precious instructional time may be lost. The director and teachers will be happy to recommend dealers for new, used, or rental instruments.
Make Up Lessons
We consider your private lesson time as a standing appointment. If a teacher needs to miss a lesson, they will notify the student in advance and make arrangements to makeup the lesson. If the student misses a lesson, PRIOR NOTICE IS REQUIRED. If a student misses a lesson without any prior notice given, you will be charged for the lesson and a makeup lesson will not be offered.
Lessons and Scheduling
To provide consistency and an atmosphere conducive to learning, all School of Music lessons are taught on the Parkview campus. No exceptions. During the enrollment process, each student will be assigned an instructor. The student or parent of the student will then be contacted to confirm a lesson time.
Registration and Commitment
When you register at the link below, he/she is committing to an entire school year of study.  The $50 registration fee will be due and payable online at the time of registration.
