The elementary division strives to bring out the artistic talents in all of its students. Through drama, music and visual arts, PBS strives to develop artistic skills and knowledge in all students. All elementary students participate in music and art classes. The arts are also integrated into daily lessons in the classroom.
Visual Art
The elementary art program is designed to teach children to appreciate the beautiful world God has made and to see His artistic craftsmanship through the world of fine art. Students are presented with various projects based on the elements of art: color, form, line, shape, space, texture and value. These projects help inspire students to express themselves while experiencing the use of different media. Art history and exposure to the works of famous artists are interjected into the curriculum throughout each project. Our elementary students participate in two annual events showcasing visual arts – Starry Night & our Art Show.
Music
The elementary music department is proud to provide the newest and most effective teaching methods to inspire great musicianship. Every child has the opportunity to learn about composers and music history along with music theory and composition. The music classroom is a great place to find a child’s creative side through the use of hands-on teaching and a strong eurhythmics teaching program. This program combines a unique technique of bodily response to rhythm and music using improvisation and artistry. Each year, 1st graders put on an Easter performance, 2nd graders a Christmas performance, 3rd graders host a Veterans Day program and 4th graders put on a Spring Musical. 3rd & 4th graders also perform at Starry Night and 4th graders participate in weekly chapel Praise Team.
Parkview BaptistSchool of Music
In addition to the regular curriculum, Parkview Baptist School of Music is a unique on-campus opportunity for private music lessons. The Parkview Baptist School of Music is an entity of Parkview Baptist School and serves students in our community by providing excellent private training in the musical arts. We are dedicated to creating an atmosphere where students can develop musical skills, grow spiritually, and use their talents to glorify God.
