The Butterfly Project

After reading Elie Wiesel’s Night and the historical fiction novel The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Mrs. Bankston’s 9^th grade English students created “Holocaust butterflies.”  The idea was inspired by the book I Never Saw Another Butterfly, a collection of children’s drawings and poems from the Terezin Concentration Camp.  Students depicted icons from this horrific period onto butterfly templates.  A vote was conducted in each class for the most exceptional butterflies.  All the butterflies are suspended from the ceiling in room C203.
