Name:
– Ms. Shara Mayers
Grades and Subjects Teaching:
– High School Learning Lab
Year you began your teaching career:
– 2020
Degrees:
– B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University
Tell us about your family:
– My daughter is my world. Her name is Kennedy and she is 12 years old.  I have a very strong bond with her, and much of my time is spent watching her play volleyball or ride horses (English – hunter/jumper).

I’m eager to work with students and families who are equally committed to their faith and studies.

Do you have an interesting fact?
– I have lived and worked in Mendoza, Argentina.
– Before Covid, I played co-ed adult league softball. I’m pretty active for a mom of a 12 year old.
– Working with Drilling Engineers in the last 15 years gave me the opportunity to see many different neat things, including working in the Gulf of Mexico on a large drillship, flying in helicopters to get there, and evaluating different geological outcrops just to be able to understand our Earth’s physical history then be one of the first to get a glance at what is buried miles beneath us as we drill it.
– A few years ago, I grew 450 pepper plants and 300 tomato plants from seed in my house then transferred them to the garden.
Why is Christian education important?
– Christ’s request for us was that we become fisher’s of men and provide this moral and loving way of living. This task typically requires more than a parent’s guidance, and is sometimes more easily understood when it comes from another voice. Christ’s teachings were of love. Children should have the opportunity to learn how to love.
