We are very excited to announce the high school (grades 9-12) auditions for this year’s spring musical, Newsies, which is scheduled for performance the week of March 22-27, 2021.  We will have two rounds of auditions, with the preliminary auditions being held Saturday, September 26 and the callback auditions held Saturday, October 3, 2020.  The sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board next to Ms. Kaiser’s room, E206.

The Saturday, September 26, 2020 auditions will start with the dance auditions at 8:00 A.M., which EVERY PERSON auditioning for the show must do, followed by a taped singing audition after the dance auditions are over.  You will be called into the choir room to tape your singing audition, and then you may leave.  EVERYONE must come tape an audition.  The only exceptions will be those who are auditioning for principal dancer and do not wish to be considered for a singing or acting role.  There is NOT an acting portion for the preliminary auditions.  Acting auditions will be done only at call backs.

The materials for the Saturday, September 26 auditions will be available from Mrs. Smith or Ms. Kaiser, and the rehearsal track accompaniment will be sent via email to all who have signed up for the auditions.  You may pick up the audition materials before school, during snack, lunch, or after school.  Please do not interrupt class to pick up the materials.

The taped preliminary auditions will be sent to three independent judges with no affiliation to Parkview.  These judges will decide who will be called back for which roles.  There will be NO DISCUSSION OF THE RESULTS.  The decisions of the judges will be final.

If you receive notification for a call back audition for the show, you will audition with live judges Saturday, October 3, 2020.  There will be a mandatory dance audition starting at 8:00 A.M. followed by a singing/acting audition with the judges.

You will receive your call back audition material from Mrs. Smith or Ms. Kaiser as soon as the list is posted.  You will be asked to learn several measures of the songs and some dialog for the part for which you are being called back.  The results of the final casting will not be discussed.  The judges ballots will not be available to anyone, and the decisions of the judges will be FINAL.

The production fee for this year’s show is $300.00 per cast member.  This fee includes a professional DVD of the show and the show t-shirt.  The $300.00 also includes the fee for the meals we serve the week before and the week of the show.  We will be offering the sponsorship program again this year, and anyone who raises $500.00 in sponsorships will have the production fee waived.

***MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENTS PLEASE NOTE:  Only those middle school students who are in choir are eligible to audition, and middle school students will sign up through the middle school choir teacher, Mrs. Lisa Smith.  All eligible 7th and 8th grade students will audition with the high school students September 26.  Those interested 5th and 6th grade students who are currently in choir, or who have signed up for choir, will audition separately on Saturday, October 10.  Please check your email for more information about junior chorus auditions.***

Please check often for emails about updated audition information.  High school students, don’t forget to sign up to audition on the bulletin board next to E206.  Thank you for your interest, and we will see you at the auditions!!

If you need further information, please email Ms. Kaiser at lori.kaiser@parkviewbaptist.com.
