Brother Bob Anderson
BROTHER BOB ANDERSON – December 14, 2018
When I began attending Parkview in 1984 I soon met Brother Bob Anderson. He was known as Brother Bob to the students. We sat through many chapel services where he poured his heart out to us and tried to move us from where we were to where God wanted us to be. Even if we did not always appear attentive, we heard his words and, more importantly, we saw the love in his actions. I distinctly remember one chapel where he listed an impressive number of Bible verses from memory. To encourage us I remember him quoting Jeremiah 33:3, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” I immediately memorized that verse and have used it frequently since to ask God for wisdom. Other alumni and community members will remember different ways that Brother Bob ministered to them., but all of us will remember him for caring for others above all else. We collectively thank him for his example of love and service.
Now that I am grown and know a little more about life, stress, and all the things that adults think about, I am more amazed and thankful that he had the vision to start Parkview Baptist School. Brother Bob and Parkview Baptist Church stepped out in faith and courage to begin a ministry that many others are too afraid to touch. Not Brother Bob. His love for ministry overcame any fears and this ministry was born. My prayer is that we will keep his vision going until Christ calls each of us home.
As Brother Bob passed away Thursday evening, our students were preparing to come to the campus to put on a band concert. As I sat and listened to our students on the same stage where Brother Bob would speak to us, I thought about him and what he had accomplished. I think it is so fitting that they were playing Christmas music which reflected the majesty and mercy of the birth of our Savior. It was a message of love to the world and peace on Earth. As those perfect notes filled the worship center and rose toward heaven, I felt a calm assurance that the Lord’s angels came and lifted Brother Bob’s soul to dwell with Him forever. What a sendoff to a great man who had a part in this powerful and lasting ministry.
May each Parkview family feel the peace of Christ and do their part to show love and care to those around them. From all of us who have been connected to Parkview in some way, we wish the peace of Christ on all of Brother Bob’s family members during this time of mourning. Rest assured that he will dwell in the house of the Lord forever and his legacy will live on in us.
