PBS Silver Steppers Make History
The Parkview Baptist Silver Steppers made history this year when they showed up to Nationals with four dances. In the past, they have only brought a group routine, but extra hours were put in for a Trio and Solo routine, and the hard work paid off.
“Man Like That” performed by Londyn Atkinson, Caitlin Malone, and Lauren Aguillard brought home a Trio National Title. The trio prepared for two months and the time spent together gave them an advantage. “We are a close-knit group. We all dance alike and you can feel each other’s energy on stage,” said Lauren.
“Black and Gold” also brought home an Open Division National Title. “We won this title last year so it was great to defend that title in Disney with a group that has so much chemistry,” said Senior Captain Caitlin.
The accolades and awards do not stop there though as Londyn Atkinson brought home a Solo National Title for her performance “Wild Horses”. Londyn practiced with the group until 5:30 p.m. each day and would head home for homework. She would return to school for 8:30 p.m. that night and practice until 10:00 p.m. most nights with Head Coach Tranane Lissard. “I always loved the adrenaline rush before taking stage. You have the opportunity to showcase something that you have worked hard for and that is always a good feeling,” stated Londyn.
You can join the National Champions and become a member of the PBS Silver Steppers. Tryouts will be held March 27 and 28. For more information, please email krista.corwin@parkviewbaptist.com.
