Some kids like to write, some like to draw, others like to program robots! Our 6th grade science classes use robots on a daily basis to learn about science and technology. At an early age students are able to try their hand at engineering and programming robots. This opportunity opens up a whole new world for those who are gifted in STEM to harness and develop new skills that will help them in high school.

“Our future is technology and the Boe Bots have been a great way to immerse students in computer programming as early as sixth grade. Students built mini robots and use laptops to write code in order to program the Boe Bot to travel through a course in the classroom. The course is challenging- it involves problems solving, math, and science skills, but in a fun way! Most students start off a little bit intimidated but gain so much confidence when they are able to complete each programming task. The students really enjoy the class and can’t wait to come in and start programming,” says sixth grade science teacher Holly Jennings.

Funds raised at last year’s gala made the purchase of robotics equipment possible for our Middle School students. Thank you to everyone who attended, donated and purchased items at last year’s Gala. You made it possible for PTF to invest these funds in our Middle School students education! We hope you will join us at this year’s Gala on March 17, 2018. You can purchase tickets by clicking here.
