Volunteer Opportunities for Tuesday

Hi guys,

We will certainly have PLENTY of opportunities in the future but for now we have a few immediate needs tomorrow (Tuesday). For those of you that are high and dry and looking for something to do, here are some ideas:

1. Need about 40 volunteers between at 9:30am tomorrow in the cafeteria to pack lunches and help serve and deliver lunch to First Responders. Just show up in the cafeteria (bring an apron if you can!)

2. Student center will take the following donations: They housed about 40 evacuees from the BR community last night and expect about 20 more tonight. They are in need of the following types of things (you can drop straight off to Student Center.)

• Toothbrushes
• Small Toothpaste (sample size)
• Toiletries (for evacuees to take with them)

• Men’s and Women’s Underwear (most evacuees did not bring extras w/ them)
• Feminine products

3. Riverdale Academy (a school with whom we work closely; the Principal, Daniel McCullough has two kids at PBS): Needs volunteers tomorrow beginning at 9am to help clean up flooded Harrell’s Ferry Campus.

• You can show up at 9am – if you get lost, Daniel’s contact is -1-225-229-0425. Need volunteers to bring wheelbarrows, sheet rock knives, gloves, garbage bags, basic tools (long straight edges as we are cutting 2 feed up from floor on perimeter of inside of building). Volunteers will be ripping out sheetrock on exterior walls to dry them and cut out the wet insulation and remove wet carpet.

4.. Uniforms – If you have PBS uniforms of any size (especially white shirt tops) you may donate them and drop off at either Admissions Office or White House. We will hang on to them and sort for PBS families that lost their uniforms in flood and may not have for prep day and beyond.

We are currently working out details for serving on Saturday once we have a better idea of the needs of our family.
