PBS Head Baseball Coach Phillip Hawke to Be Inducted into Frontier League Hall of Fame

We’re proud to celebrate an incredible honor for Parkview Baptist Head Baseball Coach Phillip Hawke, who will be inducted into the Frontier League Hall of Fame on Sunday, July 20 at Ozinga Field in Illinois.

Coach Hawke, who has served as Head Coach at PBS since 2021, has led the Eagles to five District Championships, continuing a legacy of athletic excellence and leadership development for our student-athletes.

A standout from the start, Coach Hawke’s career began at Woodlawn High School, where he was a two-time 7-4A District MVP, 2001 4A State MVP, Baton Rouge Player of the Year, and a LHSAA All-Star.

He continued his career at UL-Lafayette, where he was a four-year starter for the Ragin’ Cajuns, finishing with a .303 batting average, 28 home runs, and 144 RBIs. Hawke still holds the school record for both season (61) and career walks (160), and he was a two-time All-Sun Belt and All-Louisiana selection. He also earned Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week honors and was named MVP of the Northwoods League and its All-Star Game in 2004. He was later inducted into the Waterloo Bucks (NWL) Hall of Fame.

Drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 29th round, Hawke enjoyed a 7-year professional career that included a Frontier League MVP award in 2008, three All-Star selections, four championship teams, and a 2007 Frontier League Home Run Derby title. With the Windy City ThunderBolts, he hit .300 with 32 home runs and 151 RBIs in 189 games, helping lead the team to two league championships. He also played three seasons with the Lincoln Saltdogs, where he ranked third all-time in home runs and was named to their All-Decade Team in 2010.

Prior to becoming Head Coach, Coach Hawke served as PBS Hitting Coordinator/Assistant Coach, helping lead the team to a 2013 3A State Championship and 2015 3A State Runner-Up finish. He also coached at Episcopal High School, Woodlawn High School, and with the Louisiana All-Stars summer team.

Coach Hawke will be inducted in a pregame ceremony before the ThunderBolts’ game vs. Joliet Slammers at 1:05 PM.

Please join us in celebrating Coach Hawke—a dedicated coach, a decorated athlete, and a leader who continues to inspire and elevate Parkview Baseball. Congratulations, Coach!
