Small Animal Care & Management is a new class being offered in high school this year. This class is designed to give students a unique look at the types of companion animals, their history and how to properly care for them. Various projects and activities will students a chance to use their new skills in a practical way on their own pets or case study animals. Students have the opportunity to give back to the community through a special project each semester.
The Supply Drive and Dollars for Dogs campaign was the community service project for this semester. This was completely student led and organized. The Iberville Parish Animal Shelter was the chosen shelter for this semester because they are very small, understaffed and underfunded for all of the work they do in their parish. The students collected newspaper, towels, blankets, sheets, food, treats and toys. They also raised $208.11.
