On April 6th, the 7th graders participated in Parkview’s Third Annual Louisiana Festival. It was a fun-filled day with nothing but Louisiana on their minds. They began the day with a trivia competition where they got a chance to show off their knowledge of Louisiana History. Then they got to enjoy the taste of Louisiana with delicious authentic dishes made by Montalbano’s Seafood and Jerry Lee’s Cajun Foods. Next, they got to hear from Conservationist David Cresson from CCA Louisiana. He spoke with the kids about our coast and how to be good stewards of the resources that we have been blessed with. Several students came away with possible professions for the future. From there, they went to a five-block rotation with Louisiana art, where they created a painting of a Tabasco bottle; dance, where they learned to Fais-do-do; a Louisiana word search, memory game, and finally a game station where they played Cajun charades. They wrapped the day up with a crawfish peeling contest, hot sauce tasting challenge, and a crawfish race. Thanks to Abita root beer, everyone was able to enjoy a delicious float. It was an amazing day celebrating our unique and tremendous state.
