Lafayette, LA, February 7-10 – National Beta members from PBS are celebrating their recent participation in the Louisiana Junior Beta State Convention. Students earned placement for the following competitions:
Performing Arts: Solo, Duo Trio (3rd place)- Owen Valverde, Mary Lucile Badeaux, Annie Coco
Sixth Grade Math (1st place)- Pierson Hamilton
Seventh Grade Math (2nd place)- Emma Tidwell
Eighth Grade Math (4th place)- Owen Valverde
National Beta State Convention allows students the opportunity to compete in various academic and STEM-based, virtual and performing arts competitions. State Convention was offered as a hybrid event. This gave students the opportunity to compete either virtually or onsite at the Cajun Dome. These victories at the state level provide an opportunity to compete at the national level this summer at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, KY.
Mrs. Liner says, “Beta Convention is my favorite time of the year! It’s a time when our students work hard and play hard. I enjoy seeing the outcome of their devotion to our club; hearing our students applaud their classmates as they walk across the stage to accept their awards never gets old.”
The Parkview Baptist Chapter of Junior Beta was established in 1985 and is comprised of 93 sixth, seventh and eighth graders. Each member must maintain a minimum of a 3.75 cumulative GPA and be in good standing behaviorally. Invitations to join our chapter for the 2023-2024 school year will be issued in September.
