In 5th grade science, we spend the year learning about our environment and ways that we can make a positive and negative impact on the ecosystem around us. Earlier in the year, our students went to Sugar Roots Farm in New Orleans and planted seeds in their farm. We are now able to plant and see the growth in our own classroom thanks to the purchase of our Tower Gardens from our PBS PTF. The students can be a part of the growing process from seed to plant as they learn about the nutrients and elements these plants need for survival. The students are growing basil and three different types of lettuce. We are excited to bring the outdoor classroom indoors and bring real life to our learning.
