This week, our 8th grade Physical Science students took part in the Pancake Lab identifying the physical and chemical changes of pancakes.
All students used the same recipe and were very surprised to see vinegar as an ingredient! The vinegar was essential to making FLUFFY pancakes. Students watched as it reacted with the baking soda and baking powder in their mixture. Students who allowed more time for the chemical reaction before cooking had fluffier pancakes. Students also identified color change and new odors as evidence of chemical changes.
