Parkview Baptist senior Josie Whipp signed her letter of intent to join the Mississippi College Track and Field and Cross Country teams on Tuesday.

Whipp has been a member of the Eagles track and field and cross country teams the last four seasons earning All-State honors in 2016 as a freshman when she placed ninth in 3A State Cross Country meet. Whipp finished seventh in the 3,200-meter run during the state indoor track meet later that season, and sixth in the same event at the outdoors meet.

During the 2017-18 season, Whipp notched a 20th place finish at the 4A State Cross Country 4A earning All-Metro honors. In the track season, Whipp posted an eighth place performance in 3,200-meter run at the state indoor track meet after earning District Champion and Regional Runner-Up honors in the 3200m. Whipp finished out the year by placing fifth in the 3,200-meter run at the state outdoor track meet.

As a junior, Whipp also received All-Metro Cross Country honors finishing 16th at the 4A State Cross Country meet. On the track, Whipp placed sixth in the 3200m at the State Indoor meet breaking the PBS Indoor record set by Morgan Scheutz. During the outdoor season, Whipp was crowned the LHSCA Champion in the 3,200-meter run, after being named the District Champion in the 3200m and the District runner up in the 1,600-meter run. She also finished third in the 3200m at regionals.

This season, Whipp again broke a Parkview Baptist school record set by Morgan Scheutz from 2011, as she ran a time of 18:44.69 at the East Baton Rouge Metro Cross Country Race.  Whipp finished third in the 3A State Cross Country meet propelling the team to an eighth place finish.

Whipp is also a two- time Quarter Marathon Champion at the Louisiana Marathon winning in 2017 and 2018.
