Parkview Baptist School Receives National Blue Ribbon Recognition
Parkview Family,
I am pleased to announce that Parkview Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle School divisions have received National Blue Ribbon Status through the U.S. Department of Education. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program was established in 1982 to recognize public and non-public schools of exemplary performance. 421 public and 50 private schools can be nominated each year for this national recognition. For a private school to receive Blue Ribbon status, the school must be in the top 15% in the country in Math and English based on a nationally normed test. We use the very rigorous Education Records Bureau (ERB CPT-5).
This recognition is the culmination of a strategic focus by our board and a strategic plan to invest deeply in our academic programs and staff development. Our focus on building a systematic approach to a high quality academic program began in our Early Childhood and Elementary divisions six years ago with a redesigned curriculum. From there, we tied that program into our Middle School division in a more systematic, and data driven manner. The Middle School division has always worked hand in hand with the High School. We strengthened this relationship by the creation of a data team that included a staff member representing each division. Our data team has met regularly since its creation and has been the catalyst for much of our staff development, program development, and academic decision making.
It’s important for the “behind the scenes work” of our division heads and data team to be known to our parents and community. With this in mind, we decided to apply for the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence recognition. Last year, our team felt we had adequate time to complete the applications for Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle School. We plan to submit an application for the High School division in the future.
Strategic plans, an engaged board and committed administrators are great, but being granted the National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence recognition begins and ends with our faculty. It is a long overdue affirmation of the hard work, sacrifice, passion, and love for students that our faculty in all divisions show on a daily basis. As we celebrate this achievement, please join me in thanking our faculty for the extra time they put in to assure excellence in our academic program. I am so proud that our school has been honored in this way and that our staff can see a tangible recognition of their dedication and labor.
This is not the end. It’s a new beginning as we continue to move forward aggressively seeking excellence in all four As to God’s Glory.
Superintendent, Dr. Don Mayes
