Parkview Flex Expands To West Feliciana
Our Flex program is now a year old and we have come a long way in just a year. Our 14 pilot students have grown to 40 middle and high school students and 8 elementary students this year.
Unexpectedly but wonderfully, a group of St. Francisville parents searching for a new educational option for their children reached out this summer to partner with us and launch a Flex Program for the St. Francisville area. Our St. Francisville Flex Program is currently enrolling and the first day of school for these students will be Tuesday, September 3.
I am looking forward to developing a quaint, one room schoolhouse concept in this outstanding community. Like our Baton Rouge campus, the St. Francisville campus will be perfect for homeschoolers needing a little more support and structure, and traditional students who need a little more flexibility in a smaller, Christian setting. We have hired Laura Webb, former PBS Elementary teacher and librarian, and Kristie Smith, former PBS teacher and CRU staff member, to staff the new campus.
Last spring, conversations with parents of gymnasts led us to fast track an elementary program for this year. Our Elementary Flex students are located in the Elementary Building and led by Mrs. Jamie Alello, a Montessori-trained professional who previously taught in our Middle School.
The near-future plans for our Flex program include expanding outreach to the greater Baton Rouge community. Our goal is to listen to the needs of community, start small, and grow with quality in mind. We are also planning for a heavy dual credit rotation for students who are interested in accelerating their college experience. All of this will be wrapped in a more robust spiritual experience moving forward.
Throughout the past year, our administrative team has received constant affirmation that schools must be visionary and bold in preparing for the changing needs of families, in keeping up with an evolving education system, and in focusing on the needs of students. I want to thank our school board and our parents, students, and dedicated staff for supporting Parkview as we charted new territory. I look forward to working alongside you again this year as we expand educational opportunities for students in the greater Baton Rouge area!
