BulahBots Robotics Wins Beach Bot Battle
Every summer robotics teams from around the south convene on the beach in Gulfport, MS for The Beach Bot Battle. This year, 25 teams competed in this off-season event in July sponsored by Team Fusion from Gulfport HS, and Mississippi Power. The teams compete over two days with a beach party on the evening of the first day of competition. This year, Parkview’s Robotics team, The BulahBots, did something they’ve never done before, faced themselves in the semi-finals. During the regular season, teams can only use one robot. But during this off-season we were able to build a second robot. Both robots, H1N1 and Inigo Montoya, made it to the semi-finals and faced each other in eliminations. This best-of-three elimination went to three rounds. H1N1 crew had to call a time-out and re-build a broken wheel in order continue in the third round and win their way to the Finals.
In the Finals, our second robot, H1N1, allied with Team Chaos from Picayune, MS, and Team Combustion from Slidell, LA to win Beach Bot Battle! This coming year is looking great for this team to compete in FIRST robotics.
