Junior Beta Club Students Place In Two Categories
Fifty-five middle school students recently attended the Jr. Beta Convention in Lafayette, and earned accolades in the process. Students travel from schools all over the state to compete in numerous categories including math, science, social studies, and language arts. These competitions are designed to offer students the opportunity to test their academic skills and to reinforce educational standards. Each of the listed academic subjects was a forty-five minute, multiple choice test. Over 600 students took the social studies test and PBS 8th grader Sid earned 5th place. In addition, more than 600 students also completed the math test and PBS 8th grader Kaitlyn earned 3rd place.
To be eligible to join the Jr. Beta club at PBS, students must maintain a 3.75 GPA. Invitations are issued in the fall of each year with the induction ceremony to follow in October.
