Forensic Science students working in “Crime Lab”
To culminate the semester of Forensics I, students must fully investigate a mocked up crime scene. The entire class works together as a team to document, collect and process evidence from the scene including fingerprints and blood spatter. This information is then given to the “detectives” of the class in order for them to determine the perpetrator and events of the crime. The students get to experience some of the real world challenges that crime scene investigators and police detectives deal with when investigating a crime, like having to locate minute pieces of evidence and discerning which items are important and which are not. This project serves as the exam for the class and is definitely the highlight of the year.
