Second Grade Christmas Play

62 PBS second grade students participated in the Annual Second Grade Christmas Play titled Operation Christmas Child.  Operation Christmas Child takes you on the mission of Special Forces Unit 1225 under the command of Colonel Sanders, Major Minor, Sargent Smarter, and Corporal Christie.  Unit 1225 was charged with the mission of finding the Christmas child.  Private Gomer Smile quickly shares the obvious answer that the Christ child is Jesus.  As everyone else is looking for the Christmas child, Private Eye hears a commercial from Samaritans Purse which explains that by sending simple gifts in shoeboxes to children all around the world, you can send a message every child can understand.  Private Eye suddenly realizes the child they are really looking for really is all the children in poverty around the world.  Unit 1225 steps up to the occasion and gathers shoeboxes to give to Samaritan’s Purse just like our PBS students who also rose to the task, and collected over 650 boxes.

Students practiced their lines over a 6-week period in preparation for a performance in front of Parkview Baptist Church and a second performance in front of the student body.

These opportunities allow our students to be exposed to Arts at a young age creating good work habits, time management skills and cooperative learning experiences.
