PBS Yearbook Earns First Place at the LSPA Conference
The Yearbook Staff attended the Louisiana Scholastic Press Association Annual Conference on Thursday, November 8th. The LSPA Conference is an innovative educational event that is organized each fall by the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication and is held at the LSU Student Union on the Baton Rouge campus. LSPA members, who are high school students and faculty advisers from across the state, participate in the half-day conference, which is designed to improve student media at the high school level.
At the conference the yearbook staff toured the Manship School and attended workshops focused on design, sports communication, and investigative reporting. They also attended an awards ceremony for the LSPA media contest. The 2018 Eagle, Parkview’s yearbook, was entered in the contest and not only swept all the categories, but walked away with the Best Overall Yearbook award. The categories included:
-
- Cover Design -1st place
- Overall Design -1st place
- Theme Development/Organization -1st place
- Coverage -1st Place
- Division Pages -1st Place
- Photography -1st Place
- Copy -1st Place (for the articles on pages 6 and 10)
The staff has already selected a theme for the 2019 yearbook and is currently hard at work on the design concepts. They hope to deliver another great yearbook to the Parkview community.
