Class of 2018 Receives Rings
Last week, our Class of 2018 Juniors celebrated a milestone by receiving their rings during the Junior Ring Ceremony. High School Division Head, Ben Haindel gave the following address regarding the spiritual significance of the ring:
The class ring that you will receive this evening will become one of your most cherished possessions, just as you are significantly cherished. Your friendship is valued by your friends and your family, and by everyone here to honor you this evening. Your ring is made of gold or silver. Before it could appear in its beautiful state, it had to undergo a rigorous process. The metal was tempered, heated, and molded. In a like manner, we as children of God, will encounter fires and molding in our lives. In Isaiah 43:2-3 God speaks to us with the reassuring words, “… When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” The precious gems in your rings are symbolic of your walk with the Lord. You are precious to the Lord; and He has demonstrated His love and devotion to you through His birth, His death on the cross, and His resurrection from the grave. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and yet He died for your sins because He loves you and sees you as precious in His sight.
