MS Greaux Day
Middle School spiritual emphasis took on a different form this year. On Monday, November 14, backpacks, ipads and textbooks were left at home for a day devoted to understanding how God chances us from the inside out. Students began the day with breakfast and a pep rally style gathering were students and teachers competed in fun games.
Students then moved to the sanctuary for an amazing time of worship and a message from our guest speaker, Chris Thomas. The middle of the day was filed with a scavenger hunt that had students zig zagging across campus through six stations. Advisory groups discussed how trough life circumstances we all have “dents” and scars. We used a water bottle to represent our heart and twisting and crushing the bottle to represent things that leave wounds. As students traveled from station to station on the scavenger hunt, they filled the damaged bottle with different material that represented things we try to fill our life with to heal our hurts. The material included the following;
Sand: We fill our lives with things that are unstable.
Gravel: We fill our lives with things that seem steady and heavy.
Skittles: We fill our lives with things that taste or feel good.
BB’s: We fill our lives with conflict and drama.
Water: We fill our lives with things that seem like they should be there.
Breath: We fill our lives with things from ourselves.
The afternoon was rounded out with a second time of worship and a message from the guest speaker. The students enjoyed the day but most importantly twenty-seven students confessed Jesus as Lord of their life.
