High School Spiritual Emphasis Week
November’s High School Spiritual Emphasis chapel services featured PBC Pastor Michael Hardaway. Our 9th – 12th grade students heard Pastor Michael speak on three realities that we all must face in our lives.
The first was the Reality of Death – no matter how invincible we feel, we all face the reality that man is mortal and life could be taken away at any moment.
The second message was the Reality of the Cross – Jesus Christ paid the price for our sin on the cross and offered us the free gift of salvation through the redemption that came from His sacrifice and His blood. The two criminals who were crucified with Christ had two different responses. One mocked Christ and turned from Him. The other recognized who Jesus was and placed his faith in Him. Approximately 300 high school students wrote their names on wooden crosses at the front of the auditorium as a sign of their commitment to follow Christ.
Pastor Michael wrapped up the series with the Reality of a Disciples Life. For those who were seeking to grow in their relationship with Christ, a challenge was issued to surrender their entire lives to Him without holding anything back.
A panel consisting of Dr. Don Mayes, Mrs. Suzanne Granger, Pastor Rich Mayfield, Mr. Dickie Collier, and Mr. Ben Haindel answered questions in front of the audience about what it meant to be a disciple of Christ. The PBS Praise Band, led by senior Haigan Hancock, ushered the student body into a time of praise and worship throughout the week.
