hollandSophia Holland, High School English

Welcome to Ms. Holland! Ms. Holland will be teaching English IV AP, English II Honors and CP and comes to us from Student teaching at Lee High School. She is a graduate of Louisiana State University. Let’s get to know Ms. Holland a little better!

What made you want to come to Parkview?  I didn’t plan on staying in Baton Rouge after college, so Parkview was the only school that I applied to in the area. Ben Haindel and Cathy Wilson changed my mind at our first interview because they were so welcoming. They made it very clear that working at Parkview isn’t just a job, it’s a community, which is just what I was looking for.

Where do you worship?  I’m a parishioner at St. Aloysius, but you’ll find me at Our Lady of Mercy and Christ the King, too!

Three things to a desert island. Go! A camera, sunscreen, and a lifetime supply of Popeyes

Hidden Talent? Long distance driving (I’m taking a 53 hour road trip this summer)

Why Christian Education? I believe that a Christian education is so important because it gives our students a support system. The world is constantly changing, shifting, and growing, just like our students. Giving them a Christian education reminds them that God is with them through all of it, and it provides them with a group of people who will remind them of His presence and encourage their growth in His image.

Favorite Verse? “Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.”
1 Timothy 4:12

What’s an awesome fact about Ms. Holland? I volunteer pretty regularly with the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program. I’m fascinated by the wetlands, specifically the Gulf Coast.  I love being outside whether it’s running, hiking, canoeing, or being on the beach. Football season is my favorite season. I’m a huge fan of the LSU Tigers, the Nicholls Colonels, the Pittsburg Steelers, and, of course, the Parkview Eagles.

Feel free to drop Ms. Holland a line at sophia.holland@parkviewbaptist.com and welcome her to the Eagle family!
