PBS Participates in Hour of Code
At PBS, we believe that every 21st century student should be given the opportunity to participate in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics). It helps nurture logic, creativity and problem-solving skills. Computer Science drives the US economy and opens more doors for students than any other discipline in today’s world. Through Code.org, our students were able to master basic coding skills using tutorials created by partners such as Disney. These same tutorials were used for the Hour of Code global movement in 180+ countries around the world.
In the Elementary Library, 2nd through 4th grade students are participating in the Hour of Code with the help of Ms. Rivers. In the Middle School Division, Mrs. Liner met with all 5th grade classes and several 6th grade classes to teach them the basics of coding.
Students have truly enjoyed this movement and can continue to participate at home by going to code.org.
