Portrait of a PBS Graduate
Happy New Year!
Welcome to the first blog of 2015 and to the beginning of a great second semester. God has blessed Parkview in so many ways through this first half of the year and I look forward to what He has in store for us as we turn the corner and start the home stretch. This school year has been very busy and will continue to be full of great things in 2015.
We are currently working on several major projects such as accreditation, a new strategic plan, and a master plan for the campus. Our SAIS and SACS accreditation visit will be in the Spring of 2016 and we are well underway with preparations for showing off our great school. Our master plan will be a guide for the growth and development of our campus. A master planning process is beginning this month which will include input from a wide range of Parkview supporters as we dream about the short and long term vision for our school. The strategic plan gives us year to year goals that we can focus on to spur constant school improvement as we carry out our mission in the community.
This blog, and subsequent blogs, will break down our strategic plan so you can see each piece. Our current plan, which can be found on our beautiful new website (you can access it by clicking here), is effective from 2012 through 2015. Since it expires this year, we are updating our strategic plan to reflect 2015-2018. Before I get to ideas about our newplan, I want to share some of the elements and progress of our current strategic plan.
A great strategic plan for any school needs to be anchored to its mission and its students. When we have a target for the type of student we want to produce, then we have clear guiding principles for strategic plan goals. The five marks of a PBS graduate which guide our strategic plan are as follows:
A Parkview Baptist School graduate is:
- Committed to a biblically focused lifestyle
- Able to articulate the personal/ethical implications of lifelong faith commitment
- Ready to perform with distinction at the next academic level
- Conversant with the ethical implications of the school mission statement
- Committed to community service principles
Both our current and new strategic plan will be based on the above marks of a PBS graduate. As we transition to new goals, I look forward to sharing with you the progress that has been made over the past several years.
Until then, try and keep those new years resolutions!
