Thankfulness and an Announcement
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year. We have so much to be thankful for here at Parkview Baptist. We are blessed to have a school with such a rich history behind us and strong future ahead of us. We are blessed to have this week set aside specifically to spend with family and friends and focus on being together. Most of all, we are blessed to serve a great God that loved us enough to send His Son to invite us into a relationship with Him.
Plus we have some great things going on at school for which we can be thankful!
Tonight our football team takes on St. Michael the Archangel at Louisiana Leadership Field (5763 Hooper Road) for the Quarterfinals of the LHSAA playoffs. Remember that admission is $10 and athletic passes are not eligible at playoff games. Kickoff is at 7pm and the game will be televised on Cox as the Cox game of the week. Make sure to tune in to the pregame show hosted by Jessica Province (’08), our Media and Communications Coordinator. WHEN we win, we will play in the semifinals next Friday night. Check our website and Facebook next week for details on that game.
Next week you will also receive an email on our 2014 Eagle Annual Fund. As you reflect on this season of thankfulness and also your family’s year end giving, please consider supporting Parkview Baptist via the Eagle Annual Fund. The Annual Fund is for “wish list” type items that fall outside our normal operating budget and are used for teaching and learning, campus “spruce-ups,” classroom technology, and other student enrichment items. You will be able to easily donate online when you receive the email. We have already been able to purchase some great items via the EAF that are directly in the hands of our students.
Finally, I am thankful to announce that we have appointed our new High School Principal. We have been in a period of transition this semester with Becky Madden, Dean of Students, stepping in as Interim Principal. I have been so thankful for Mrs. Madden and her High School Administrative team that have kept all the balls juggling for a smooth first semester. After receiving many applications and conducting interviews for the last five months, it became evident to me that God had a plan for Ben Haindel to come in as the High School Principal. Ben has been working on the high school admin team since July, and has garnered the respect and confidence of the high school teachers with his organizational and leadership skills.
Ben and I share many of the same goals and vision for Parkview Baptist High School. We want our high school to be both intentionally Christian and academically competitive, providing plenty of opportunities for students to excel in the four A’s. We want to partner with you, our parents, to raise up godly young men and women that go on to succeed in college and impact the world in mighty ways. You will enjoy getting to know Ben in the next few months as he lays out his vision and expectations for the high school.
