Beginning of School Buzz
We had a great day today with the new faculty and staff. We have fifteen new faculty schoolwide who are eager to serve the Lord in their respective places at Parkview. We will be highlighting each of these new Eagles on the website in the coming weeks.
As I have reflected this summer, I still cannot believe everything we did last year and how many parent hours it took to pull everything off. One thing I have seen is that the parents and supporters of Parkview want to work hard to provide a great school experience for each student. It is my desire that you as parents have confidence that the school is moving forward in a way that honors your sacrifice. I want you to trust that there is appropriate accountability with staff at every level, a commitment to good stewardship of resources that reflects the value of your tuition, and a commitment to ongoing school improvement.
I look forward to communicating areas of progress as we continue into the new year. Academically, we have continued into our second year of curriculum improvements in the elementary by adding Math at every level. We added language arts the previous year and have already seen positive gains. Mr. Lilley has also ordered new iPads to be used in the classroom in conjunction with the curriculum changes (some of which were purchased with your Eagle Annual Fund donations, and for that we are so grateful). Middle school has continued with these changes in cooperation with the elementary and has linked language arts and math to provide a more seamless instructional delivery that is designed to produce greater student achievement. The middle school computer lab has been upgraded to help achieve this goal. Mrs. Dieterich has also scheduled several inservice opportunities over the summer in differentiated instruction and in training our staff on how to promote college success in our middle school program. I look forward to implementing an intentional program with our middle school students to get them thinking about getting their student into the college of their choice. The high school has been working on strategies to be more intentional in preparing students for college standardized testing and will work closely with middle school to see that we are very efficient in how we are preparing our students.
Whew. All of that was done in a couple of short months this summer! The pace is fast, but our students and community are worth it. You will be hearing more about this later, but as we gear up for the 14-15 school year, we are claiming .We are strong because of the Lord’s guidance and hand on our school, our partnership with Parkview Baptist Church, and good, godly faculty and staff who believe serving at PBS is their calling. We are thankful you are a part of our ministry here.
