Welcome, Mrs. Burch!
Rebekah Burch, High School Spanish
Welcome to Mrs. Burch! Pictured here with her husband Felix, Mrs. Burch is no stranger to PBS as her sister, Ms. Rachel Smith is currently teaching high school Spanish! This dynamic duo will be teaching Spanish 1 and 2 as a team. Mrs. Burch graduated from LSU with a BA in Spanish with an Education concentration and taught Spanish at Central High School last year. Let’s get to know Mrs. Burch a little better!
Tell us about your family. I married my high school sweetheart on New Years Eve, 2013. Felix and I met when I was 15 and he was 18 and the rest was history. More than anything, we love serving together in our church, whether it be teaching children’s church, leading missions trips or worship, or helping with the youth group, we love being involved with what God is doing. Our favorite things are traveling, working out, and the great outdoors.
What made you want to come teach at Parkview? Last year, my sister was hired on to teach Spanish 1 and I was very excited that she would get a taste of the Parkview environment. When the opportunity arose for me to join the Parkview team, I knew that God opened the door for me to back in the school where I played and to do it beside my dear sister. I love Parkview’s goal to not only provide an academic path of excellence for all of their students, but a path of godliness and grace. I cannot wait to begin teaching!
Tell us a super interesting fact about Mrs. Burch. My true passion is running my business, Praising Hands Traveling Shoes. I create jewelry and apparel that gives 50% of our profits to provide hope and freedom to sex trafficking victims in South East Asia. We provide women with resource housing, career training, education, and a gospel-centered curriculum to help them towards a better life and show them the love of Christ.
What is your favorite snowball favor? Cherry with condensed milk.
Why is Christian education important? Growing up with a christian education, I realize the importance of instilling godly values and beliefs into children at an early age. Whether it be through academics, in the hallway, or out on the field, being in a christian environment has a positive outcome on moral. In addition, having men and women of God to teach and guide you is an important aspect that I truly love.
Anything else we need to know about Mrs. Burch? I have traveled out of the country 15 times and cannot wait to continue to grow that number! Traveling + spreading God’s love to different peoples and countries is what truly makes my heart soar!
