Letter from the Director

God surely blessed me 28 years ago when He brought me to Parkview Baptist School.  I consider my job as Director of Elementary a calling.  PBS is my mission field.  The mission of Parkview Baptist School is to provide students with a Christ-centered education that allows them to grow and mature in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and man.  Our elementary Bible verse this year is Psalm 105:1.  Biblical principles are incorporated into all that we do in the elementary school.
We have a four-fold mission in the elementary school, and each one begins with an “A” because we intend to be an “A+” school.  First, we believe our students should have an Abundant Life.  Our teachers teach Bible lessons, and our students learn scripture.  We have weekly Chapel services, and mission projects are included throughout the year.  It is our honor to instill knowledge of the love and grace of Jesus Christ and build a strong foundation of good moral character in each student.
We strive to be Academically Superior.  Our college-prep program begins in kindergarten.  The curriculum begins with various approaches to learning.  It develops into higher-level thinking skills, critical thinking, and the ability to reason.  The hands-on approach, as well as an inquiry-based curriculum, add to the quality of our academic program.  Technology is an integral part of both student learning and school and home communication.  All classrooms are equipped with at least two computers, a projector, and Activboards.  Our teachers have on-going training and instruction in all areas of the curriculum.
There is an excellent Fine Arts program in the elementary school.  Art, music, computer, library, and foreign language are offered to all of our students.  Our praise choir helps to lead the services for our Chapel services. PBS teachers contribute to developing the God-given talents of our students.
The Athletics program in the elementary school includes emphasizing good sportsmanship.  P.E. classes are held every day.  A developmentally appropriate P.E. program is taught to our students.  This includes the Presidential Fitness program, a jump rope team, and health instruction.
At Parkview Baptist School we are a family.  We are all here for one reason – to develop the whole child.  The faculty and staff take this responsibility very seriously and look forward each year to working with our students and their families.

In Jesus’ Love,
Martha Long
Director of Elementary School
