13 Year Senior Kameron Tate Named a National Merit Finalist
Kameron Elizabeth Tate, daughter of Jeffrey and Terri Tate, has been announced as a Finalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) in the 62nd annual National Merit Scholarship program.
Tate has been at Parkview Baptist School for 15 years. She has maintained a 4.0 average all four years of high school while also being involved in numerous activities. She has been a varsity cheerleader for four years, has run varsity track and field for five years, varsity swimming for six years, and varsity cross country for three years. Tate serves as our Student Body President and is also a member of the Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta Club, and Outdoors Club. She plans to attend the University of Mississippi and major in Engineering.
One and a half million high school students enter the National Merit Scholarship competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) in October. The PSAT is an initial screen of program entrants. Of those 1.5 million students, only 15,000 progress to the Finalist level.
